Their ages were apparently estimated as 28 and 32 respectively. With them was listed Peter's bride-to-be, Margaretha Kirscht (born Kerscht in 1832), daughter of Matthias Kerscht and Angela Achen. Peter, Hubert, and Margaretha were all from the Mettendorf, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia parish. They departed Europe through Antwerp, Belgium and arrived 29 May 1858 at the port of New York on ship Josephine. On 22 June 1858, Peter Barthel and Margaretha Kirscht married in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mathias Barthel (born 1840 in Niehl, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia), son of Bernard Barthel and Catharina Thielen, belonged to the Catholic parish in Mettendorf, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia. Mathias came with his brother, Jacob (born 1832). They boarded the ship Cupido in Antwerp, Belgium and arrived at the port of New York on 17 Sep 1862. Mathias married Barbara Burges in 1867 in Frankfort Twp, Wright, Minnesota. Jacob married Christina Maus in 1867 in Frankfort Twp. Peter Barthel (born 1824 in Niehl, Kreis Bitburg, Germany), son of Bernard Barthel's first wife, Elisabetha Heinen, came with his half brother, Hubert (born 1828, also of Niehl), son of Bernard Barthel's second wife, Catharina Thielen. Their ages were apparently estimated as 32 and 28 respectively. With them was listed Peter's bride-to-be, Margaretha Kirscht (born 1832), daughter of Matthias Kerscht and Angela Achen. Peter, Hubert, and Margaretha were all from the Mettendorf, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia parish. Theodor Barthel was born 1866 and came across the ocean with his family in 1867. He was born in Oberweis, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia to Wilhelm Barthel and Catharina Ehr. He left with his parents, siblings, grandfather (on his mother's side), and three aunts (see Wilhelm Barthel's immigration account for further details on names. He departed through the port of Antwerp, Belgium and arrived at the port of New York on 24 Jun 1867. Although his name does not appear in the 1870 US census, he was part of the family that settled in St. Michael. Since he does not appear in the St. Michael parish death registers and does not appear in the 1870 census, he may have died enroute between New York and his parents settling in Frankfort Township, Minnesota. Wilhelm Barthel (born 1830 in Niehl, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia) was the son of Bernard Barthel and Catharina Thielen. Niehl was in the Catholic parish at Mettendorf, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia. Wilhelm, then a resident of Oberweis, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia, was accompanied by his wife, Catharina, and children, Bernard (mistakenly listed as Conrad), [Anna] Maria, and Theodor. His father-in-law, Peter Ehr, who was a widower, also came with them, as well as Peter's three other daughters, who were Maria, age 27, Susanne, age 25, and Anna, age 23. After arriving in Antwerp, Belgium, they boarded the ship Nord Pola, which arrived 24 Jun 1867 at the port of New York. Anton Berning, son of Gerhard Berning and Adelaida Burgaralt? was born at Bentlage on 29 Jun 1829. The village did not have a church, but belonged to the Roman Catholic parish at Rheine, Westfalen, Prussia.

According to the Status Animarum of St. Michael, Maria Antonette Brüggemann, daughter of Franciscus Brüggemann and Adelaida Corsan?, was born 19 March 1819 in Lengerich, Tecklenburg, Westfalen, Prussia. There are no microfilmed LDS records prior to 1851. Today, the town is in Kreis Steinfurt.
Barbara Burges, daughter of Nicolaus Burges and Maria Lambris, was born 29 Jan 1851 in Üdersdorf, Daun, Rheinland, Prussia. She immigrated in 1856, according to the 1910 Census. She married 19 Feb 1867 Mathias Barthel, son of Bernard Barthel and Catharina Thielen. She died in St. Michael, Wright, Minnesota on 12 Oct 1920.
Maria Burges, daughter of Nicolaus Burges and Maria Lambris, was born about 1844 in Üdersdorf, Daun, Rheinland, Prussia. She immigrated in 1856, according to the 1910 Census. She first married Michael Gahr on 16 Jul 1861 in St. Michael. Then, after his death married 15 Jan 1864 Hubert Barthel, son of Bernard Barthel and Catharina Thielen. She died in St. Michael, Wright, Minnesota 1929.

Catharina Ehr was listed in the parish register as A. Catharina Ehr, but was known as Catharina. She was born 5 Oct 1835 in Oberweis, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia. She married 1858 Wilhelm Barthel (born 1830 in Niehl) in nearby Mettendorf, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia. Wilhelm Barthel was the son of Bernard Barthel and Catharina Thielen of Niehl. Prior to emigration, she and her husband were residents of Oberweis. Her father, Peter Ehr, was born in Bettingen, Bitburg, Rheinland, Prussia.

John Elliott, born 1795, came from Tynan, Armagh, Ireland, probably in 1853. He is the husband of Anna White. He was buried in the old St. Michael, Wright, Minnesota cemetery.
William Elliott, son of John Elliott and Anna White, was born 1827 or 1828 in Tynan, Armagh, Ireland. William is buried with his wife, Anna Gallaghan or Gallagher, in the old St. Michael Cemetery, St. Michael, Minnesota. According to the 1900 Census and Stutus Animarum of St. Michael, he came to America in 1853. His father, John (1795-1879) is also buried in St. Michael Cemetery.
William Elliott married 24 Apr 1859 Anna Gallaghan in St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota, settling in St. Michael in 1860.
Jacob Engel, son of Johannes Engel and Anna Maria Menth, was born in Bausendorf, Wittlich, Rheinland on 21 August 1827. He came to America on the ship Floridian from Antwerp, Belgium to the port of New York. He married Margharetha Weiskopf in 1855.
Peter Eull, son of Bernard Eull and Margaretha Lenz, was born 16 August 1831 in Mehren, Daun, Rheinland, Prussia. He left Germany in 1846 and married Margaretha Thull 15 Nov 1854 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grafton, Ozaukee, Wisconsin (see microfilm 1862868). Franz Xaver Frey, son of Michael Frey, was born 3 Dec 1823 in Ersingen, Baden, Germany. He emigrated from Germany in 1848 and came to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From there he went to Illinois. Anna Galagher or Galagan was born 6 Apr 1825 or 1830 in Clanghide, by Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland. She came to America in 1852, according to the 1900 Census, but according to the Status Animarum of St. Michael, Wright, Minnesota, she came in 1856. The Catholic parish registers of Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland begin in 1833. She married William Elliott in St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota on 24 Apr 1859 and took up residency in St. Michael, Wright, Minnesota in 1860.
Anthony Gilles, son of Peter Gilles and Anna Ritterath, was born (according to Status Animarum of St. Michael) on 27 Sep 1844 in Boos, Mayen, Rheinland, Prussia. He came to America in 1856 and came to St. Michael (Frankfort Township), Wright, Minnesota. He married in 1869 Anna Maria Müller, daughter of Matthias Müller and Anna Maria Langendorf of Virneburg, Adenau, Rheinland, Prussia. Hugo Gindele was born 26 March 1902 in Ersingen, Baden, Germany. Ersingen is now united with Bilfingen and is now called Kämpfelbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. He boarded the S.S. Although Frank Heinen did not live in St. Michael, he had married Mary Servaty in 1922 in Albertville. Mary is the daughter of John Servaty and Barbara Barthel. According to his marriage record in Albertville, he was born in Hipperdingen, which was verfied as Hupperdingen (now Hupperdange), Luxembourg, which belongs to the civil registration office at Heinerscheid. His parents are Johann Baptist Heinen and Elisabetha Lampert. His parents came to America in 1892 on board the ship Friesland, departing from Antwerp, Belgium and arriving at the port of New York on 12 Feb 1892. Johann is listed under Jean Baptist Heinen and Elisabetha was listed under her maiden name of Lampert. Frank (Franz) came earlier.

According to the 1900 census, Hubert came to the United States in 1872. He is the son of Johann Zimmer and Barbara Willems. He emigrated with his parents to Wisconsin in 1849 and married Brigitta Kennedy, daughter of Thomas Kennedy and Maria Mays (spelling?) in 1870 at Milwaukee. She was born in Ireland in 1848 and came to America in 1866. They were listed in the 1900 census as residing in Otsego Township, Wright, Minnesota.
